Amazing Wonder Wand

In class we have been discussing the concept of becoming design thinkers. My friend made this video for a class he was in and I thought it was an excellant example of innovative thinking. They took a device that seems about as straight forward and single purposed as they come. It's a pencil. It's just good for writing and erasing, right? Wrongo! It's the wonder wand! They took this simple device and turned it into a highly sophisticated, must have, "one size does all", exciting thing. If they can use that kind of design thinking with a pencil, think of the different ways we can improve our world and come up with more solutions in our lives!

  1. It slices, it dices, it juliennes fries, but wait there’s more. Many times in the things that we do, we can only see solutions or outcome that have already been presented to use and that we are comfortable with. I believe that the key goal behind this class it to take us out of the day to day, to take us out of the ordinary, to move us off the road more traveled and to throw us into an environment that what we see is not always what we get. Going outside our preconceptions of reality to a more creative landscape is the definition of success in our modern society. A pencil is not just a pencil but a tool of creativity.

I just invent, then wait until man comes around to needing what I've invented.
